Crown damage from freeze-thaw cycles
Why it happens here
The concrete crown on top of an East Lawrence chimney takes the full force of every freeze-thaw cycle. Water seeps into hairline cracks, freezes overnight, and expands. After two or three winters, a hairline crack becomes a real opening that leaks into the flue.
Our approach
We pour a new crown mix with the correct slope and overhang, then seal it. A properly built crown sheds water instead of absorbing it, which is what stops the cycle. Most crown repairs here take one visit.
