Crown damage from freeze-thaw cycles
Why it happens here
Naismith Valley gets repeated freeze-thaw cycles in winter. Water seeps into small cracks in the crown, freezes, and expands. This turns hairline cracks into large ones. Many crowns on homes built in the 1990s are now failing.
Our approach
We remove the old crown and rebuild it with chimney crown mix. We slope it correctly so water runs off. We also seal the crown-to-brick joint. A new crown lasts fifteen to twenty years.
